Orders

This article provides information about the orders placed by your customers in your online store. It includes the order date, value, and currency. Orders are valuable for creating customer segments and efficient marketing communication based on their purchase behavior.

Order data is collected in real time through the tracking code implemented in your website. If you want a more comprehensive view of your customers’ purchase behavior, you can import historical order data into the ExpertSender CDP platform.

To manage the incoming order data effectively, we have simplified the data import process and enabled the addition of unique order attributes. Here are the steps:

Add order and product attributes

Each product in your online store has different attributes that are essential for your customers and your business. These attributes allow you to analyze the market, track trends and understand customer value.

Therefore, we recommend adding such attributes before import to ensure smooth data integration with ExpertSender CDP platform.

In ExpertSender CDP, you have the flexibility to add your own set of order and product attributes that suit your specific business needs.

Import existing order data from a file

Before your ExpertSender account is filled with order data, you have the option to supplement it with the historical data. Read the step-by-step instructions on how to import order data. In the instructions, you will also find a convenient template file for you to use.

Orders – dashboard

The dashboard presents a grid table that displays all tracked orders, starting from the most recent ones. The main order details included in the table are:

  • ID – the order ID placed in your online store and recorded by our Web Tracking code.
  • Customer email – the email address of the customer associated with the order.
  • Website – the URL address of the website where the order was placed.
  • Products – the number of products in the order. To view the product details, click the Details icon at the end of the row.
  • Order value – the total value of an order, including discount codes or additional costs.
  • Currency – the currency declared when registering an account with ExpertSender CDP. If your store uses a different currency, we’ll convert all values to your account currency.
  • Order date – the date the order was placed. Order data imported from a file will have this field empty.
  • Created at – the date the order was created in the ExpertSender CDP platform. This may differ from the actual order date.

Tools to browse and filter order data:

  • Quick search – filter the customer base by additional attributes and data. You can find the quick search option above the grid table.
  • Adjust number of orders displayed in the grid using the dropdown list below the grid. Choose between 10, 20, 50 or 100 records in the table.
  • Pagination tool below to browse through the data.
What currency are the amounts shown in?

We show amounts in the currency you chose when you signed up for ExpertSender CDP. If your account has websites using different currencies, we change those amounts to the currency you picked when you signed up.

Customer places an order, but you can’t find it in the platform

If a customer has placed an order on your store, but it has not been registered in the platform, it’s likely that the customer did not return to the purchase confirmation page after making the payment. Consequently, the ID of the placed order was not passed to the platform.

In such cases, we suggest sending information about placed orders via API.

Instructions on how to do this can be found in the article API – adding order information.

Order details

To view the specific details of an order, click the Details icon at the end of the row. A window will open, showing basic statistics such as the order date and time, customer name, email, RFM segment, and website URL address.

The two white fields display the total order value and the value of returned items.

Below that, you will find a list of products purchased within an order. Product details include the product image and price, name, ID, quantity, category, URL address of the product page and return status – yes or no. Click Read more to access the custom product attributes set in Settings > Orders > Product attributes.

The order details remain the same for each product on the list.

To exit the order detailed view, click Close in the top right corner.
