Users
This is where you manage everyone who has access to your ExpertSender CDP account. These are the people who can access your websites and stores, and handle your marketing activities like sending emails, managing campaigns, or creating automation scenarios.
The Settings section, including Users, is available only to Client Admins. Users with the Client role don’t see Settings in the menu.
You’ll see all users displayed in a table with these details:
- Email – the email address they used when creating their account.
- Name – their full name.
- Role – what they can do in the platform: Client or Client Admin. See “Client Admin and Client – what’s the difference?” below.
- Last login attempt – when they last tried to log in (this stays empty if they haven’t activated their account yet).
- Login – whether their last login worked or failed.
- 2FA Status – whether the user has set up two-factor authentication.
- 2FA Required – whether you require the user to use two-factor authentication.
- Status – what’s happening with their account right now: active, suspended, blocked (after failed login attempts), or unused (waiting for activation).
- Actions – what you can do with their account: edit, delete, or generate a new activation link.
Want to see accounts you’ve deleted? Click Show deleted users above the table. You can also change how many rows show up at once using the controls at the bottom right.
Client Admin and Client – what’s the difference?#
Every user has one role. Client Admin has everything a Client has, plus access to account settings and user management.
- Client Admin – works in the platform and manages the account: users, channel and tracking settings, and the configuration of data.
- Client – works in the platform: creates and sends campaigns, builds scenarios and analyzes customers and reports.
Both roles can:
- Create and send email, SMS, web push and mobile push messages.
- Create pop-up forms, forms and banners.
- Build and manage scenarios.
- Work with customers, customer profiles, orders and discount codes.
- Create and manage segments.
- Import and export customer and order data.
- View reports.
- Use the template library and the image library.
- Manage their own account: name, language, password, two-factor authentication (2FA) and login history.
Only Client Admins can:
- Manage users in Settings > Users.
- Configure email and SMS settings in Settings > Email and Settings > SMS, including sender and link domains and domain authentication.
- Set up web tracking: websites, the tracking code, product catalogs and product feeds.
- Create, edit and delete customer, product and order attributes.
- Manage consents.
- Configure RFM settings.
- Manage the blocklist in Settings > Blocklist.
- Check logs in Settings > Logs.
- See the API key of the business unit in Settings > API.
Helpful tip: Sections you can’t use are hidden from the menu, not greyed out. Some features also depend on the business unit’s settings. For example, mobile push and banners are available only if they’re turned on for the business unit. If a feature is turned off for the business unit, neither role can use it.
Which business units can a user access?#
The role also decides how many business units a user can work in.
- Client Admin – has access to all active business units in your organization.
- Client – has access only to the business units you assign to their account. A new Client doesn’t get any business unit by default. You choose them when you create the account.
If a business unit’s access is suspended, it doesn’t show up for either role.
Create user account#
Here’s how to add someone new to your account:
- Click the Add user button on the right side above the table.
- Fill in their email address and name.
- Set up their password.
- Choose the language for their account interface.
- Pick their role: Client or Client Admin. You can create both. Client is selected by default.
- Under Two-factor authentication (2FA), set Required to Yes if the user must use 2FA. They’ll set it up at their next login.
- Under Units, select which business units they can access, or click Select all. This step is shown for every role, but it only matters for Client – a Client Admin always has access to all business units, whatever you select here.
- Click Save.
As soon as you save, the account is active and ready to use with the password you set. There’s no separate activation step or activation e-mail for accounts you create here.
Change a user’s role, suspend or delete an account#
In the Actions column, click the edit icon to open Edit user. There you can change the user’s name, email, status (for example, to suspend the account), role, whether 2FA is required, and the units they can access. The 2FA status is shown there, but you can’t change it. You can’t change someone else’s password or language from here – see “Can I reset someone’s password?” below.
To delete an account, use the delete icon. Deleted accounts stay on the list under Show deleted users, where you can restore them. You can’t delete your own account.
A role change takes effect immediately.
Can I reset someone’s password?#
No. If someone forgets their password, they can click Forgot password? on the login screen. Each user can also change their own password, set up two-factor authentication and check their login history in My account. See User account.
